Informational Resources on Improving Social and Emotional Learning and Outcomes

Improving students’ social and emotional outcomes is of great interest to many and this document organizes the numerous reports, publications, and online resources on social, emotional, and behavioral learning (SEL) into categories for streamlined access and use. The author started with a searchable database of resources at the Center to Improve Social and Emotional Learning and School Safety. Additional resources were added, particularly on the recommendations of SEL experts. The reports/resources are free and easily accessible online (links provided).

Native Education Resources

This list of resources will help build state education agencies’ (SEAs) capacity to improve the learning lives of indigenous children and youth. These resources are designed to enhance the effectiveness of SEAs as they collaborate with tribal education departments (TEDs) or tribal education agencies (TEAs), tribal representatives, and local education agencies (LEAs). The resources are organized into six categories of state support for indigenous education: Native Culture and Language; Tribal Consultation and Sovereignty; Teachers and Leaders; College and Career Readiness and Access; Physical and Behavioral Health; and Promising Programs and Practices.

Comprehensive Centers' Support for Implementing Literacy Programs

Troubling results of the 2019 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) should trigger action on the part of state-level policymakers. This virtual conference from the National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators (NAESPA) featured presenters from the Comprehensive Center Network who discussed several validated steps states can take in prekindergarten through grade 3 to ensure reading success. The program included several implementation questions for states to consider for their work, examples of state initiatives to improve literacy outcomes, and additional resources forthcoming from the CCNetwork.

Resources to Support Educators in the Georgia Dyslexia Pilot Program: Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction and Dyslexia

This Rapid Response document developed by the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) for the Region 6 Comprehensive Center contains a list of information sources and training opportunities for teachers to learn about dyslexia in general and within specific characteristics. These include dyslexia characteristics and instructional strategies to help students with dyslexia, and evidence-based literacy instruction, also known as “the science of reading” and “scientifically-based reading instruction.”
