Follow the Region 5 Comprehensive Center (R5CC) team, where state co-leads work with departments of education in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia on projects to build state-level capacity to address regional and district needs. These include high percentages of persistently low-performing schools in poor communities, students with disabilities, and rates of opioid addiction. As R5CC Director, Kimberly Hambrick sees it, “By supporting educators and programs at the state level, we help strengthen teaching and learning throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.”  This is where the R5CC team is using success stories as powerful tools to show how they work with states to support ESSA plan implementation and take readers on a journey that leads to solutions to their problems.
